How Einstein' brain was different from others.
We have always heard and even we are known that Einstein was better that any other human being. But now we know the exact reason why. And we are constantly hearing about the Einstein's extraordinary brain. It was removed through surgery eight hours after his death, and we have just been hearing about it ever since, looking for the differences that made it such a great mind that is way better than others.
A study recently published in the journal, it says that they have found the awnser. And it's in the corpus callosum, the body's largest bundle of neuronal fibers that maintains your cerebral cortex. its functions makes sure that the both halves of the brain can communicate properly with each other to give proper output.
Now, you must have heard about right brain, left brain myth and lateralization before. But there's no such thing as a right or left brain person. You are a beautiful and a unique creature that can do anything you want, thanks to practice and neural plasticity. However, the actions you take are controlled by different parts of the brain. And if those parts are on different sides and need to coordinate together, they need to go through the corpus callosum to make it happen. Einstein's corpus callosum had extremely thick connections between the halves of three very interesting brain areas his prefrontal cortex, which controls extraordinary thinking and decision-making, his parietal lobe, which is all about sense and function, and his visual cortex, for seeing.
The thicker connections could be able to lateralize lower of brain activity and this explains why he was so brilliant, which is absolutely interesting, because lower lateralization in the brain has also responsible for schizophrenia and psychopathy.
how to train your brain get brain like Einstein?
The neural plasticity, the powerful it gets and the connections get to become thicker. So this in theory, to think like Einstein, you would need to do such activities that will make sure your corpus callosum is active and use both hemispheres of your brain at the same time. Several studies have shown that musicians uses their whole brain more while playing music as they need to concentrate more. Einstein himself was a violin palyer. So maybe taking up an instrument or music lessons could help you to get more out of your brain. Handedness is connected to lateralization. So by being right-handed, I'm using the left part of my motor cortex.
A study in Nature which was done in 2004 showed that using both hands for day to day activities will definitely boosts power of your brain. Specially using your non-dominant hand throughout the day for all activities like brushing your teeth could probably do the same thing for you. Logic and math puzzles are a great idea, because number estimates and comparison use both halves of your parietal lobe. And if you're terrible at them, like me, it means you also get to work out your amygdala, your ventral medial prefrontal cortex, and your limbic system by flying into a rage.
Just remember to do as much as activities with your non-dominant hand. Anyway, but there is an unanswered question here is whether Einstein had a more developed corpus callosum since he was born to begin with, which would have given this sort of thinking a start. I also cannot tell you in a straight manner that brushing your teeth with the wrong hand or playing the chess or puzzles is going to turn you into the next great thinker. But making conscious decisions to learn, adapt, and be creative every day can't hurt. What do you think? Was Einstein born genius, or did he make himself that way?
